Candace Parker is the first female cover of NBA 2K.
Twenty-two years after the debut of the NBA 2K, the Basketball SIM series will present a woman on the cover of the game for the first time. Twice, WNBA MVP and end of WNBA 2016 MVP Candace Parker, in front of the special edition of WNBA 25 anniversary of NBA 2K22.
Parker is one of several basketball stars to present the packaging of NBA 2K22. Luka Dončić is the cover athlete in the standard game edition, while the anniversary edition of the NBA 75 offers Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
The special edition of WNBA’s 25th anniversary is an exclusive GameStop (Canadians can pick it up from Games EB). It is a physical edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and presents a pack of seven exclusive WNBA t-shirts in the game, including one for Parker. It costs $ 70 and will be available on September 10.
Although it has taken a long time for 2K to put a female athlete on the cover of a game of the NBA, it is a positive step forward for the representation. NBA 2K20 was the first 2K game to present the WNBA teams and players, and a version of WNBA of MyPlayer’s career mode debuted at NBA 2K21.
EA has been presenting more women in their sports titles in recent years. Litó to 2k to punch with WNBA players in the NBA Live 18. Ea put women on the cover of a FIFA title for the first time in 2015. FIFA 2016 was the first edition of the series to present women football players.
