How to Reach?

Lalbagh is a spectacle to behold and is recognised as one of the top green landmarks besides Cubbon Park. So, it is well-connected with bus and cab services. You may also take the green metro line to reach Lalbagh within the least time possible. While booking air tickets from Mumbai to Bengaluru, check the fastest and traffic-free route to reach early morning at around 8:00 am.

What to See at Lalbagh?

The garden got its name from the red roses that stayed in bloom all year. A famous glasshouse holds an annual flower show here. Each here a new theme is chosen and the floral arrangements are made accordingly. No wonder it was called the Rose and Cypress Garden till 1856. There are plenty of ornamental plants, rare birds like the Pond Heron, Common Egret, Purple Moor Hen, and flower figurines. You may see the following:

A separate Bonsai Garden is another prime attraction of this property. There is an interesting collection of more than 50 plants. Their ages vary from 15 years and above and include Ficus Benjamina, Araucaria Cookii, Ficus Aastica, Psidium Guajava, and Casurina Equisetifolia.

Tips to Visit Lalbagh Garden

This is a huge space and requires plenty of patience to cover. Rest and energise yourself after deboarding your Mumbai to Bengaluru fight before heading out. Try to buy the tickets for the flower show online to avoid queues. Do not carry any plastic bottles. There are 4 different entry gates all of which are open to visitors. The North one offers quick access to the Glass House while the South one is to reach the Lalbagh Road. Entry is free between 6:00 to 9:00 am and 6:00 to 7:00 pm. A nominal fee is levied at other times.
