Apple TV + and HBO Max get their first best comedy emmy nomination
Apple TV + and HBO Max have taken their first nomination in the top two categories of Emmy Primetime. Hebo hacks and flight attendants, and Ted Lasso Apple are very good all getting a nod for the best comedy series. All but one from the nomination in that category is streaming show, with the exception of Black-ish ABC. Netflix took the nod trio to Emily in Paris, Cobra Kai and the Kominsky method, while upstream won one for PEN15.
Netflix led the way in the best drama series category, with crown and Bridgerton among nominations. Disney + returned to the fold with the second consecutive nomination for Mandalorian in that category. Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys and Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale (who won the award in his first season) made a wound, along with the country of Lovecraft HBO, FX Pose and NBC this was US.
Crowns and Mandalorian are performances with this year’s joint nominations with 24 each. Disney + other shows, wandavision, are right behind with 23 nods, including the best limited series and the best actors (Paul Bettany) and actress (Elizabeth Olsen) in a limited series or film. Other major streaming winners include the story of Handmaid (21 nominations), Ted Lasso (20) and Queen’s Gambit (18).
Other famous streaming nominations include Falcon and Winter Soldier (Disney +, Five Nominations), Star Wars / Simpsons Crossover Maggie Simpson at: The Force Awakens of NAP (Disney +, One), The Umbrella Academy (Netflix, Four), Love, Death + robot (netflix, two) and fantastic documentary film Billie Eilish: opaque world (Apple TV +, four).
Friends: Reunion (HBO Max) scored four nominations, Hamilton’s performance filmed (Disney +) took 12 and outstanding Bo Burnham inside (Netflix) received six. All of them are nominated for special varieties (filmed) with Dave Chappelle 8:46 (Netflix, but streaming on YouTube), Utopia America David Byrne (HBO) and West West HBO Max Reunion.
Among them, HBO and HBO Max have the most nominees as a whole with 130. Netflix just behind them with 129. Only in the second year Emmy’s eligibility, Disney + is in third place with 71 nominations.
Apple gets a total of 35 nominations, including one for Carpool Apple TV Karaoke: this series. Apple Watch Series 6 and Beats by DRE ADS are between nominations. Hulu received 25 nudgents this year and the main video earned 18.
Quibi (yes, you read it correctly) landed emmy nominations for the second year in a row with eight as a whole. Streaming platform shows that are not functioning are now labeled as native to Roku after Roku takes a short form series library.
Paramount + has six nominations, YouTube receives five and Facebook lands three: two for oculus and one to watch Facebook. Peacock took two nods, while AMC +, Pluto and Discovery + each received a single nomination.
